Behind the Paw – Stanley & Mabel the Petface Ambassadors
Monday, 6 June 2022
Stanley (also called Moo Moo) and Mabel (also called Maybelline) are long-haired mini dachshunds, a breed initially bred to hunt for small animals such as rabbits.
The name dachshund is of German origin and literally means "badger dog," but because of their long, narrow build, the breed is often nicknamed the sausage dog.
Mabel was named after the drummer’s Mum in the rock band Stereophonics, whilst Stanley was named because it suited his appearance.
Both dogs have their own little traits, Stanley loves toys, especially plush toys and loves to cuddle up with Sassy the Snail by Petface when he’s not watching television. Most recently he’s been mesmerised with a series called “Call the Midwife” and also “Strictly Come Dancing”.
Mabel has outgrown the toy phase and likes to sleep a lot in her Petface bed. She can be very vocal and knows when it’s time for her meals (often telling her owner off when its late!), with her favourite food being turkey & cranberry treats.
The best memory of Stanley is when he met Aayla the seal at The Cornish Seal Sanctuary. To see the interaction with Aayla was amazing, especially when photos of the encounter went viral across social media.
The best memory of Mabel is the day she finally was accepted by Alfie our standard dachshund. They were then inseparable until the day he sadly passed.
Their owner said "The benefits to owning a pet are endless. Unconditional love, loyalty, help with emotional support and meeting new friends"
